12 fishermen missing in Bay as 2 trawlers capsize

Twelve fishermen went missing after two trawlers capsized in the Bay due to heavy current triggered by monsoon depression on Sunday night.

Local sources said the two trawlers capsized along with 22 fishermen when they were fishing near Dimer Char and Sheola areas.

Ten fishermen of FB Nurabad trawler managed to swim ashore but 12 others of the other trawler remained missing.

Fishermen, who returned from the Bay, said hundreds of fishermen have taken shelter in the Sundarbans area along with their trawlers due to the stormy weather.
