Advisers to monitor relief operation in flood-hit dists


The advisers of the caretaker government have been assigned to the current national priority task of monitoring relief and rehabilitation operation in different districts affected by the current floods.

They have been entrusted with the responsibility of mobilising "more local NGOs, philanthropists and people from all walks of life in the relief and rehabilitation work", an official announcement said yesterday.

Information and Law Adviser Barrister Mainul Hosein has been assigned to Satkhira, Narail, Barisal, Khulna, Faridpur, Magura and Jhenidah districts and Finance Adviser Dr A B Mirza Md Azizul Islam to Bogra, Sirajganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Chuadanga and Natore.

Communications Adviser Major General (Retd) M A Matin got the charge of Brahmanbaria, Comilla and Feni districts, Food and Disaster Management Advisor Tapan Chowdhury Sherpur, Jamalpur and Tangail and Industries Adviser Getee Ara Safiya Choudhury Rajbari, Shariatpur, Madaripur, Manikganj and Munshiganj districts.

Education Adviser Ayub Qadri has been assigned to Mymensingh, Netrakona and Kishoreganj districts, Local Government Advisor Md Anwarul Iqbal to Dhaka, Narsingdi, Narayanganj and Gazipur, Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury Sykhet and Sunamganj, and Agricultural Adviser Chowdhury Sajjadul Karim to Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Rangpur, Gaibandha and Nilphamari districts.
