CCC officer robbed of Tk 2 lakh

Armed muggers looted Tk 2 lakh from an accounts assistant of a Chittagong City Corporation (CCC)-run CNG Filling Station in Wasa area yesterday. Sources said Mohammad Mafiz Uddin, 32, an accounts assistant, was going to deposit the money at the Wasa Branch of Janata Bank walking, only 150 yards from the station, at around 12:00noon. When he reached near the bank the muggers attacked him and forced him into a CNG-run autorickshaw. They took away the money at gunpoint after going few metres from the spot and thrown Mafiz out of the autorickshaw, sources said. Mafiz was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and later released after first aid. Police detained the autorickshaw with its driver Mokbul Hossain from a garage at city's Korbaniganj area.
