At Benapole, BSF troops shot dead a Bangladeshi cattle trader on Agrabhulot frontier early in the morning. The dead was identified as Aijuddin, 30, of Agrabhulot village.

BDR sources said when some 5/6 cattle traders were returning home from India with cattle, BSF troops of Jhaudanga camp fired on them, killing Aijuddin on the spot. Other cattle traders, however, managed to escape unhurt.

BDR and BSF traded gunfire following the incident. A tense situation has been prevailing in the area.

In Satkhira, another Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot dead by BSF on Kakdanga border in Kolaroa upazila early yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Ziarul Haq, 25, of Raipur village.

BDR sources said the Indian border guards of Hakimpur camp fired on him, when he was returning home from India with cattle, leaving him dead on the spot.

BDR sent a letter to BSF protesting the incident and demanded immediate return of the body.
