Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) seized 35 abandoned bombs at a mango orchard at Moharajpur in Chapainawabganj early yesterday. The bombs were in small plastic containers wrapped with blue tapes, Rab sources said. Acting on a tip-off that some terrorists have gathered there, a Rab team from Rajshahi Railway Colony camp conducted a raid on the mango orchard adjacent to the Sona Mosque Road at Melapara at around 11:00am. Sensing the presence of Rab, the terrorists managed to flee leaving behind the bombs, said Rab sources. The bombs were taken to Rajshahi Rab office. "The terrorists might have links to some quarters active to destabilise political situation," said Lt Col Shamsuzzaman Khan, director of Rab-5 in Rajshahi, quoting intelligence information. "There are some groups in Chapainawabganj who make bombs for different quarters. We are seriously looking into it," he said.
