Police said a Dhaka-bound passenger-laden coach of Bismillah Paribahan from Shaghata Upazila collided head-on with a truck near Gaibandha district jail complex as driver lost control over the steering, leaving one dead on the spot and 15 others injured.

The dead was identified as Nazrul Islam, 17, of village Dakheli Ullah under Shaghata Upazila.

Of the injured, seven were rushed to Gaibandha Sadar Hospital in critical condition.
