Police recovered a woman's body inside a sack at Uttara in the capital yesterday. Meanwhile, sources in the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) morgue said a 14-year-old schoolboy was strangled to death. His body was found at the Botanical Garden in the capital Saturday afternoon. The identity of the woman, around 25 years of age, could not be known. She was wearing a yashmak over salwar kameez. Police said locals saw a deserted sack on Road-13 at Sector-10 and informed them of the matter. Police rushed to the spot and found the body inside the sack with its hands and legs tied. They suspect that the woman was strangled to death as there was a scarf wrapped tightly around her neck. A security guard of the Botanical Garden found the body of Saiful Islam, a class VIII student of Nayanpur High School in Ramganj, Laxmipur, in an isolated place of the garden and informed police of the matter. Police recovered the body and sent it to DMC morgue for autopsy Saturday. An unnatural death case was filed with Shah Ali Police Station. Saiful's father Abdur Rashid, who works as an office assistant in a factory close to the garden, brought his son to the capital from his village home on July 11 for medical treatment. Saiful had been suffering from high fever for some time. "We had breakfast together Thursday morning before I left my mess on Zoo Road for work around 9:00am. I heard from neighbours that Saiful left the mess half-an-hour later," Abdur Rashid told reporters at DMC morgue. He informed police about his missing son Thursday night, as he could not find him returning from work. He identified the body Saturday night. The autopsy report, however, is yet to be released. "If the autopsy report reveals that it was a homicide, then the unnatural death case will turn into a murder case," said the officer on duty at Shah Ali Police Station.
