Unb, Dhaka
Faizul Islam, the suspected killer of Supreme Court lawyer advocate Sayma Khanum, yesterday confessed to a magistrate court that he alone killed Sayma. On completion of his five-day police remand, Faizul, an assistant accountant of PWD, was produced before the magistrate court when he made a nine-page confessional statement under section 164 of the CrPC. Faizul said no one else was involved in the killing. After his arrest on July 23 by Rab-2, Faizul had told reporters that three of his associates aided him during the killing. Responding to a query, a Rab official told UNB that Faizul mentioned the names of three others in a bid to implicate them in the case, as he owes money to them. Rab members also recovered a cellphone set and a watch of deceased Sayma from Faizul's PWD office. Faizil said he slaughtered Sayma at her apartment in 'Prince Tower' on Elephant Road on July 17 for Tk 12 lakh Sayma took from him in the name of providing him a job.
