Math Olympiad
3 Bangladeshi students honoured


Bangladesh for the third time participated in the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), which took place at Hanoi, Vietnam, and scored 31 points.

Three members of the Bangladesh team, Shoumen Dash, Tanveer Ahmed Bhuiyan and Ishat-e-Rabban, received honourable mentions in the competition.

In addition to gold, silver and bronze medals, honourable mentions are awarded to participants who solved at least one mathematical problem.

Five members represented Bangladesh team and each of them scored two points or more. The other members of Bangladesh team are: Najia Chowdhury and Tariq Adnan Moon.

In the 47th IMO last year, Bangladesh scored 22 points and received two honourable mentions.

Mahbub Majumdar, leader of Bangladesh team, said he expects Bangladesh's ranking to be higher this year than that of last year.
