CA for more interactions among advisers, secretaries

Chief Adviser (CA) Fakhruddin Ahmed yesterday called for formal and informal interactions between the advisers to the caretaker government and the secretaries for further expediting administrative function.

He gave the call during a regular weekly meeting of the Council of Advisers, where Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumdar presented a report on the progress in implementation of the decisions taken in the council meetings since January 14 to June 30.

The CA thanked all secretaries of the ministries for their prompt action in implementing the decisions and hoped that this tempo would be maintained-and the powers delegated to them would be exercised with the highest degree of sincerity.

The meeting was informed that a total of 205 decisions were taken in 40 meetings of the Council of Advisers since January 14 to June 30. Of them, 115 have already been implemented while the remaining 90 are at various stages of implementation.

It was also apprised that 14 ordinances were given final approval in the council meetings during the period, and nine of those were promulgated. "The rest of the ordinances are under the process of promulgation," according to the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary, Syed Fahim Munaim.

Nine advisory committees were either constituted or reconstituted in between January and June.

The decisions taken by the government include delegation of financial and administrative powers aiming to further increase dynamism of the administration, updating the laws and rules and regulations, formulation of citizens' charter in all utility service-providing organisations and quick settlement of various incomplete matters, including pension cases.

Chaired by the chief adviser, all advisers and secretaries concerned attended the meeting at the CA's office.
