Third season of "Sisimpur" launched

"Sisimpur has made a positive impact in improving the basic literacy and communicative skills of Bangladeshi children," said Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, advisor to the ministries of Industries, Jute and Textile, Social Welfare and Women and Children's Affairs, while launching the third season of Sisimpur.Nayantara and Sesame Workshop arranged the launching programme of the third season of award-winning children's educational TV show, Sisimpur. The event was held at Emmanuelle's Banquet Hall in Gulshan on July 24. Geeta Pasi, charge d'affairs, US embassy; Kamrunnesa Hasan, deputy director general (programme), BTV; Roger Carlson, USAID mission director and Mustafa Monwar, chief creative advisor of Sisimpur, were also present at the programme. Around 50 unprivileged children also attended the event. Media personality Asaduzzaman Noor expressing his contentment at the successful completion of two seasons of Sisimpur. Tuktuki, Halum, Shikhu and Ikri Mikri -- popular Muppet characters from the show -- made appearances at the programme, inviting audiences to take the journey for another season with them. Highlights of the forthcoming episodes of Sisimpur were shown. In the last two years, Sisimpur has become very popular among the children. Apart from teaching children how to read and count, the show also educated them on daily affairs, family and social values, hygiene and food habits and more. Through a research, conducted recently on 7000 Bangladeshi children, it has been proven that children who watch Sisimpur regularly have attained advanced skills in basic reading and counting than their contemporaries who don't watch the show. The Sisimpur team is also launching their official website, which will open on July 27. Children can meet their moppet friends from Sisimpur at www.bracnetsisimpur.com on the Internet.
