Tearful Huda claims himself, Sigma innocent

Former communication minister and BNP vice-president Nazmul Huda shed tears in the special court yesterday pleading release of his wife Sigma Huda.

Terming his wife innocent in a Tk 2.4 crore bribery case, Huda said Sigma did not take any money from anyone using force or threat and therefore is not engaged in that case.

Huda also claimed himself innocent in the same case.

Huda was giving deposition before the special court of AK Roy at the parliament complex.

At one stage, the crying Huda took off his spectacle to wipe the tears of his eyes.

Huda claimed one Zahir Hossain wished to be a shareholder of the weekly Khoborer Antorale and therefore gave him the money, which cannot be considered as bribe.

He said a deal was signed in this regard. The joint forces seized the agreement papers, which were not included in the seizure list prepared by them, claimed the former minister.
