Our struggle

I strongly believe, although our country is going through a very difficult political process, there is light at the end of the tunnel. After the corrupt political leaders have taken a dip in the Ganges, only then can we assume a fair and free election however difficult and lengthy it may seem.

We only need to look at our neighbour, India, for inspiration. While we are fighting between the AL and the BNP and changing our textbooks regarding who called for the independence war, India is fiercely emerging on the global stage as the intellectual and economic superpower. Despite having 28 states and 22 official languages the reason India is progressing fast is the widespread use of English language, where we are lagging far behind.

Our 'political leaders' are forcing pupils to learn A-Z in Bengali language while sending their offspring to the UK or USA for 'education'. It is about time our ancient educational system is changed and upgraded.

I feel we are all part of this struggle which will lead us to the global platform.
