Cultural Correspondent
Tushagni, the 22nd production of theatre group Loko Natyadal, was premiered at Dr. Neelima Ibrahim Auditorium, Mahila Samiti on July 21. Written by Mohit Chattyo-padhyay and directed by Abdullah Al Harun, the play features a rather perplexing dilemma an anonymous state faces. The play presents a strange country where the prisons are vacant. Gradually it becomes apparent that none of the citizens oppose the government any more. The last political prisoner who was accused of attempted murder of a minister ten years ago, walked free after signing a confessional note. The department of law enforcement has become useless. Afraid of losing their jobs, some of the officers disguise themselves as rebels and make a startling discovery, Noted artist Ferdousi Priabhashini inaugurated the play. Uzin Gomez, president of Loko Natyadal and Mohini Mohon Chakravarti, adviser of the theatre troupe were also present at the programme.
