Chittagong Divisional Theatre Festival begins today

Grameenphone Chittagong Divisional Theatre Festival '07 begins today at the Shaheed Zahir Raihan Auditorium in Feni. Eminent playwright Selim Al Deen will inaugurate the festival. Chairman of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation (BGTF) M. Hamid will attend the programme as chief guest. Organising Secretary of Chittagong Division, BGTF, Abhijit Sengupta informed, "After completion of the festival in Feni, we will organise another festival in Cox's Bazar in September that will include troupes from Chittagong, Rangamati and Cox's Bazar." Four troupes from Feni, Comilla, Brahmanbaria and Chandpur will stage Jiboner Gaan, Kingshuk Je Morute, Iasin Chora and Ranger Manush at the festival being held in Feni. Jiboner Gaan, a Feni Theatre production, directed by Abhijit Sengupta, will be staged today. Protibimba Theatre from Comilla will stage Kingshuk Je Morute tomorrow. Kingshuk Je Morute is written by M. Ehsan Ullah and directed by Shahjahan Chowdhury. Ganonatya Parishod from Brahmanbaria will stage Yasin Chora, written by Manzurul Haque Milon; M. Al Amin is the director of the play. The last performance of the festival, Ranger Manush, will be staged by Chandpur Drama. Ranger Manush is written by S.M. Zainal and directed by Parimal Das Nupur.
