Indian Border Security Force (BSF) gunned down a Bangladeshi citizen on Lohakuchi border of Aditmari upazila in Lalmonirhat yesterday, BDR and police sources said.The victim was identified as Minhaz Uddin, 30, son of Abdul Mazid of the upazila. The sources said a group of patrolling BSF troops of Koimari camp under 46 BSF battalion suddenly opened several rounds of fire on Minhaz while he was walking in the border area at about 4:45am. Minhaz was killed on the spot and the BSF troops took away his body to India. Patrolling BDR jawans rushed to the spot and lodged a strong protest against the killing with their BSF counterpart and asked them for returning the body. The BSF side agreed to return the body through a company commander level flag meeting after conducting autopsy of the body at an Indian hospital, the sources said.
