Oli declares 91-member party committee

Col (retd) Oli Ahmed-led Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) yesterday announced names of 91 members of its national executive committee with Oli Ahmed and Jahanara Begum as its president and secretary general.The LDP split on June 27--eight months after its formation--as both its president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury and executive president Oli Ahmed claimed to have majority support of party leaders. The 10 presidium members of the Col Oli-led LDP are Jahanara Begum, Alamgir Kabir, Redwan Ahmed (now detained in jail), Abdul Karim Abbasi (now detained in jail), Maj Gen (retired) Anwarul Kabir Talukder, Moni Sawpan Dewan, Ziaur Rahman Khan, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Ali Kadar and Abdul Mukit Khan. The executive president of the party is Shaikh Razzaq Ali and there are 17 vice-presidents. Names of the rest 160 members of the party's executive committee would be declared later, said Sahadat Hossein Selim, an LDP joint secretary general.
