Rokeya Day
Website needed to facilitate research works
Speakers at a view exchange meeting yesterday suggested organising a book fair related to women issues on the next 'Rokeya Day', says a press release.

They also underscored the need for opening a website on women and gender issues to facilitate research works and public interest.

Women and Gender Studies Department of Dhaka University (DU) organised the meeting at the conference room of Development Studies department with a view to forming a 'Rokeya Network'.

Proprietors of different publishing houses attended the meeting moderated by women leader Maleka Begum.

In her welcome speech, Prof Nazma Chowdhury, founder chairperson of Women and Gender Studies department, said cooperation between the Department and the publishers can promote studies and research on women issues.

The publishers said the number of books on women issues is limited due to adequate research manuscripts.

Farid Ahmed of Somoy Prakashani, Osman Gani of Agami, Sayeed Bari of Shuchi Patra, Golam Faruk of Maola Brothers and Shahida Khatun, deputy director of Bangla Academy, were also present.
