A Magura court yesterday sentenced the president of a school managing committee to 13 years' rigorous imprisonment for cheating people and misusing school funds. Additional District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Jalaluddin handed down the verdict to AHM Kamruzzaman, who is also an assistant public prosecutor (APP). The court, however, acquitted four other accused. According to the prosecution, Kamruzzaman, president of Satyapur High School Managing Committee, got his younger brother appointed as an assistant teacher of the school with forged papers. He also took Tk 3,09,000 from several people in the area with promise of jobs as teachers and misused the school funds. The headmaster of the school Md Hafizur Rahman filed the case against Kamruzzaman and four others on April 4.
