AK Faezul Huq passes away

Eminent politician A K Faezul Huq, son of Sher-e-Bangla AK Fazlul Huq, died of cardiac arrest at United Hospital at Gulshan in the city yesterday. He was 64. The former state minister for jute left behind his two wives and seven children and a host of relatives and admirers. Faezul fell sick at his Baridhara residence yesterday evening and was rushed to the hospital where he died at 7:00pm. Born at Park Circus in Kolkata in 1943, Faezul did his primary and secondary education at St Gregory's School in Dhaka and higher secondary education at Notre Dame College. He obtained his honours in political science and master's in English from Dhaka University. Faezul was elected member of Pakistan National Assembly (MNA) from Banaripara-Swarupkathi-Nazirpur constituency on Awami League ticket in 1970. He was also elected member of the parliament (MP) from Banaripara-Swarupkathi constituency in 1996 and made state minister for jute. Different socio-cultural and political organisations have expressed deep shock at his death.
