Laloo's dream

The mercurial and media friendly former chief minister of Bihar and present Indian Union Minister for Railways Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav is once again in news. He has told the media about his wish of seeing India and Pakistan united as one country. He has cited example of East and West Germany's union after remaining separated for a few decades. I find some justification in his statement although majority would term it as wishful thinking. If it happens, then one of the social crimes done in the history of the world would be partially taken care of. The great leaders of undivided India, except Mohammed Ali Jinnah, could clearly see the long term implications and the disaster waiting for the millions of people of the sub-continent. The forecast of the wise men came true as the world thereafter saw the worst riots, killings, arsons migrations never witnessed before.

The inhuman brutality and the worst carnage was carried out on neighbours, while friends turned bitter enemies. Blood relatives were separated so inhumanly that they never met again in life. Nephews and nieces became grand parents themselves without meeting their uncles. What a tragedy faced by the people of the sub-continent. The 1st and 2nd world wars were fought for limited period but the curse of partition of India will continue for generations to come.

I expect many more Laloos to raise their voices for this noble cause.
