Performance by Fakir Alamgir at Shilpakala

Bangladesh Shipakala Academy (BSA) arranged a musical programme on July 14 at the National Music and Dance Centre. The programme titled, Shomoyer Shongram-1 featuring performances by noted artiste Fakir Alamgir -- was the first of a series of programmes by BSA. BSA plans to hold similar cultural programmes featuring popular artistes to express their commitment against corruption. The programme was sponsored by ATN Bangla Multimedia Production Ltd. Fakir Alamgir started off with Daam diye kinechhi Bangla. It was followed by Amader cholchhey lorai, Alu becho chhola bechho and Kaindona Rahmat-er ma. The evening ended with a rendition of Alamgir's evergreen song O Sokhina gechhos kina bhuila amarey. At the programme, Alamgir wished for the recovery of Sabina Yasmin. A discussion was held prior to the programme. A.B.M Abdul Howk Chowdhury, secretary to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, was the chief guest. Special guests were Samar Paul, director general, National Museum and Sarkar Feroz Uddin, senior vice president, ATN Bangla Multimedia Production Ltd. Kamrul Hassan ndc, director general of BSA presided over the session.
