Johnston's kidnapping

BBC journalist Johnston's kidnapping shows how reckless a nation could be to be heard around the globe. But the move by a militant Palestinian group can rather weaken their just cause for an independent Palestine state.

For many years, the Palestine conflict has been in the spotlight of world media. In most cases, Palestinians have been portrayed as terrorists unfairly and sometimes intentionally without reference to the root of the problem. Unlike many other world media, BBC at least tries to do the so-called 'balancing act' while reporting on the Arab-Israel conflict. But as a BBC journalist, Johnston has done more. His voice about the seemingly never-ending misery and hardship of the deprived and oppressed Palestinian people has made him something special in the arena of fair and honest journalism around the globe. Nevertheless, he had work within the ambit of professional journalism.

The Palestinian people should realise that such kind of kidnapping will not bring anything but disgrace and dishonour to them.
