5 robbers held at Benapole

With the help of villagers, Benapole port police arrested five robbers while they were trying to flee the scene after committing robbery in the guise of Rab members at Kagajpukur bazaar in the early hours of yesterday. The arrestees are Hasan Sheikh, 30, Juwel, 32, Mostofa, 30, Asaduzzaman Asad, 40, and Suman, 28. Mokter Hossain, officer in-charge, said a gang of 16 robbers identifying them as Rab officials tied some businessmen with rope at gunpoint and took away gold ornaments, cash and valuables worth over Tk 4 lakh saying that there are allegations against them. Being informed, port police with the help of the villagers arrested five robbers from Navaran, Amrakhali and Lawtara villages after two hours of hectic efforts, he added.
