Police said a gang of miscreants led by Rubel and Masud assaulted Nazrul Islam, district correspondent of Dainik Bhorer Dak, at about 9:00am, when he protested teasing of his daughter on their way to her school.

Nazrul is now undergoing treatment at a private clinic in the town in a critical condition.

Local journalists condemned the incident and demanded exemplary punishment of the culprits.
