Charge framing on July 29

A Sylhet court yesterday fixed July 29 as the date for framing charges against four chargesheeted accused in the case of grenade attack on British High Commissioner Anwar Choudhury at the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA).District and Sessions Judge Abdul Gafur fixed the date as one accused, Muhibur Rahman alias Muhib Ullah, brother of Mufti Abdul Hannan, could not be produced in the court. Three other accused, however, were produced before the court. They are chief of Harkat-ul Jihad Mufti Abdul Hannan, Sharif Shahedul Alam Bipul and Delwar Hossain Ripon. Meanwhile, the names of 20 other accused, who were arrested after the grenade attack in the shrine area on 21 May in 2004, were dropped from the charge sheet. Earlier on June 26, the Sylhet Sadar magistrate sent the case records and the charge sheet to the District & Sessions Judge's court for trial.
