A Correspondent from Thakurgaon reports: At least two people were killed and 15 others injured in separate road accidents in Thakurgaon on Wednesday night.

One person was killed and 15 others injured in a road accident on Thakurgaon-Ruhia road at Debiganj under Sadar upazila at 9:30pm.

The dead was identified as Batashu, 22, son of Kalu of Dakkhin Thakurgaon under Sadar upazila.

Police and local people said the accident occurred when a bus carrying bridal party turned upside down and fell into a road side pond, leaving Batashu dead on the spot and 15 others injured.

On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the injured to Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital.

The injured identified are Porimol, 18, Nabadwip Kumar, 12, Jhuman Bala, 55, Bhanu Bala, 50, Manik, 15, Shubal Chandra, 20, Dulai, 18.

Police seized the bus but the driver managed to flee.

Besides, one person was killed when a Lahiri-bound bus knocked him from behind on Baliadangi-Lahiri Road at Adardighi under Baliadangi upazila on Wednesday night.

The dead was identified as Ramzan Ali, 42, of Boguladangi under Baliadangi upazila in Thakurgaon.

Our correspondent from Netrakona adds: Twenty-five people were injured in a road accident on Netrakona-Mohongonj road at Singharbangla under Netrakona Sadar upazila in the district yesterday.

Police sources said the accident occurred when Netrakona-bound passenger bus from Mohongonj fell into a roadside ditch at Singherbangla as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving 25 people injured.

Of the injured, Saiful Islam, Tara Chand, Kamaluddin, Nuruzzaman, Ataur Rahaman, Shahidul Nabi, Kala Mia, Rubal, Shipon, Narayan Chandra Das and Kalpana Akter were rushed to Netrakona Sadar Hospital and Mymensingh Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
