Bus collision kills 8 in Comilla

A collision between two buses left eight people dead and 47 others injured at Raipur on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Daudkandi upazila of Comilla yesterday. Police said a Laxmipur-bound bus from Dhaka collided with a bus heading for Dhaka from Companiganj, Comilla around 3:54pm killing five on the spot. At least 50 passengers of the two buses were injured, 10 critically. The injured were admitted to different hospitals. Later, two injured passengers died at Pangu Hospital in Dhaka while another died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Comilla. One of the deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam of Gora Badalihata of Comilla. Traffic on the highway was disrupted for an hour due to the accident.
