Aminul Haque served notice to submit wealth report in 7 days

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday served notices on former post and telecommunications minister Aminul Haque and his wife Ava Haque, asking them to submit their wealth statements within seven working days.

As per directive of the headquarters, ACC field official Aminul Islam went to Haque's Baruipara village home under Godagari upazila.

As none but a domestic help was found at Haque's house, the ACC official pasted two notices on the gate of the house.

The notices asked Haque and his wife to submit their wealth statements to the office of the ACC secretary in Dhaka within seven working days.

The former minister has been in hiding since the declaration of the state of emergency in January. He was accused in seven cases including two for patronising JMB militants.

Meanwhile, The ACC secretary at a regular weekly briefing at the ACC headquarters in Dhaka yesterday said the commission will also investigate the allegations of corruption against reformist politicians, reports UNB.

"No one is above the law. If we get allegations of corruption against them, we must investigate the charges," said ACC Secretary Mokhlesur Rahman.

He informed that the commission is investigating the charges made against two officials of the commission. But he did not disclose the names of the two.

He said the commission has so far received a total of 42,000 allegations. Of them, 22,000 have been recorded.
