Children's art competition in Mymensingh

A painting competition for school-going children, marking a tree fair, was held at the premises of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Sangrahashala (art gallery) in the district town last Friday. Jointly organised by Mymensingh District Administration and Forest Department, the ten-day fair held at local Town Hall premises concluded on July 7. Over 100 youngsters, including 15 differently-abled students from 30 schools took part in the competition. Assistant Keeper of the Sangrahashala Dulal Chandra Gain, art teachers of Mymensingh Zila School and Govt. Laboratory School -- Hasan Mahmud and Tapash Majumder respectively -- were the judges of the painting competition. An essay competition was also held at local Muslim Institute marking the tree fair. A total of 80 students from 15 educational institutions took part in the event. Marking the concluding session, a discussion was held at the fair premises with Divisional Forest Officer Md. Akbar Hossain in the chair. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Nazmul Hasan Khan addressed the function as the chief guest while Professor Zakir Hossain, Professor Prodip Kumar Biswas and Professor Jiten Kumar Sarker were the special guests. The chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of the painting and essay competitions. On the occasion, cultural functions were also organised. Different organisations including Mukul Niketan Cultural Academy participated at the programme.
