MA Samad's 70th birth anniversary today

Today is the 70th birth anniversary of renowned cine-personality of the country Mohammad Abdus Samad. Born on July 8, 1937, in Habiganj, Samad has remarkable contributions to the development of our film industry. He was the cinematographer of over 40 films and director of four movies. MA Samad began his career as a cinematographer in UK, after completing a diploma on cinematography from there. After returning home in 1963, Samad initially worked as cinematographer. He later emerged as a film director in 1973. To pay homage to MA Samad, Bangalee Samagra-- a museum that preserves documents of great Bengalis has arranged a programme at its office at 5pm. Samad's colleagues, relatives and students will discuss at the programme. Moreover, articles on Samad by Baby Islam, Soovas Dutt and Samad's daughter Kabita Samad will be read out. Tariq Rahman, managing director of the museum, said, that they will also publish a commemorative book on Samad on his death anniversary on October 28.
