Cultural event to promote birth registration


Speakers at a cultural programme held recently, urged everyone to take part in the birth registration process. The programme was organised by Khagrachhari District Administration and was held at the Officers Club premises.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Shahdat Hossain was present as the chief guest while additional Deputy Commissioner (general) Mohammad Khalilur Rahman presided over the discussion.

Among others, District Police Superintendent Khandaker Lutful Kabir, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Shah-E-Alam, civil surgeon Dr. Abu Taher and additional District Magistrate Shamsuddoha spoke at the programme. Speakers stressed on the importance of birth registration and encouraged everyone to complete the process by June 2, 2008. The process is free of charge, they said.

After the discussion a cultural programme was held where child artistes from the Zila Shishu Academy, Zila Shilpakala Academy, Kochi Kanchar Ashor and Khagrachhari Theatre performed songs and dances.

Students from different institutions, UP Chairmen and members, representatives of different NGOs and government officials were present at the event.
