Programme to feature underprivileged adolescents and Dutch artistes
Rehearsal at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel
Six performers from the Netherlands Dans Theater (NDT) participated at a two-day rehearsal session with 70 underprivileged adolescents of 'Padakhep' (a non-government organisation), held at Winter Garden of Dhaka Sheraton Hotel recently, says a press release.

The rehearsal is a part of a programme where the youngsters and the Dutch dancers will perform at a grand finale at Winter Garden some time in early January 2008, the press release also says. NDT, Padakhep and Dhaka Sheraton are jointly organising the programme.

The organisers believe that cultural activities like dance can help develop creative expression, self esteem, cultural literacy and aesthetic perception among the underprivileged youngsters, which will certainly have a positive impact on their lives.

Performers of NDT who attended the rehearsal were Paul Lightfoot, Sol Leon, Amos Ben Tal, Shirley Essenboom, Medhi Bruno and Marjan Van Lier.

Incidentally, Dhaka Sheraton Hotel is also introducing an 'Indian Classical and Ghazal Evening' at the Dunhill Lounge soon. Performances will be held on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings for a limited season.
