Jagannath Rath Jatra July 16

The annual Jagannath Rath Jatra (chariot procession) will start from International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) temple at Swamibagh in the city on July 16, seeking divine blessings for universal peace and harmony.

Traditionally, this event draws thousands of Hindu devotees from different walks of life every year. They took part in the procession amid much festivity.

"The Rath Jatra will begin at Iskcon temple at 2:00pm on July 16 and end at Dhakeswari National Temple. The Rath will return from Dhakeswari Temple on July 24," said Sukhi Susheel Das Brahmachari of Iskcon at a press conference yesterday.

On the occasion, Iskcon has organised nine-day programmes, including Kirtan, recitation from Gita, discussion, and culture programmes at its Swamibagh and Wari temples.
