A proud Bangladeshi

I feel proud to be a Bangladeshi. I feel like sharing my pride with everybody.

Now, bad news from all sectors is dominating people's thoughts. It's a time when big questions are being asked about political leadership, about corruption, about abuse of power by a few, about collective deprivation of many, etc.

Over the last few months a few positive things have happened too. Cricketers played well in the World Cup; the garment industry of Bangladesh has become a formidable force in world business and recently we became Europe's number one Jeans supplier; Bangladeshi restaurants dominate the food industry in the UK so much so that it is called the 'curry industry'. I stop the list here as I think I should not start justifying my positive feeling.

I think trying to explain why one loves his/her loved objects is pointless. Think about your home and try to justify why you feel 'at home' there. Or think about your best friend. It is very likely that the person is not the best friend to everyone that knows her/him. However, she/he is still your best friend.

So I just love Bangladesh.
