Witnesses said the mob chased the gang of seven robbers as they tried to commit a robbery at a Butterfly showroom of electronics appliances at Tipu Sultan Road in Sutrapur at about 4:00pm.

The robbers, however, managed to escape by throwing bombs and firing gunshots.

The girl, Anisa Akhter, and two other pedestrians Nazimuddin and Shamim Ahmed suffered splinter injures in different parts of their bodies and Mohammad Sumon, a newspaper hawker, received two bullets in his left arm.

Anisa's family told reporters that she was passing through the area in a rickshaw with her uncle Shah Alam to attend a wedding party at the time of the incident.
