Road crashes kill 3 children


Three children were killed in separate road accidents in Comilla and Chandpur yesterday.

UNB from Comilla reports: Two children were killed and four others injured in a road accident at Srihasya in Nangalcot upazila yesterday.

Police said the accident occurred at about 3:00pm when a speedy tractor hit a rickshaw coming from opposite direction, leaving two rickshaw passengers Fahima, 9, and Manu, 8, dead on the spot.

Other rickshaw passengers, Hafeza Begum, Shamsunnahar, Rakib and rickshaw puller Zainal were also injured in the accident.

The tractor driver managed to escape.

Our correspondent from Chandpur reports: A minor girl was killed in a road accident on Chandpur-Matlab road at Munshirhat under Matlab South upazila here yesterday.

The dead was identified as Shushila Rani Dash, 14, daughter of Gonesh Dash of Dashpara in Matlab poura area.

Shushila was run over by a speeding maxi while she was crossing the road. Witnesses said the accident occurred as the driver was driving the maxi recklessly.

She was rushed to Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
