UGC probe ends

The probe body of University Grants Commission (UGC) concluded on Monday night its investigation of alleged irregularities, corruption and nepotism at Rajshahi University (RU) in last five years. Campus sources said the probe body carried hundreds of important files, documents and written complains with them before leaving for Dhaka. The body gave much importance to controversial recruitment of 546 employees and the source of Tk 2.50 crore as their salary. When contacted, probe body Convener Prof Mohammad Mahbub Ullah told newsman that they received many information and documents about irregularities, corruption and mismanagement. "After examination, we will submit an impartial report to the government soon," he added.
