Regional consultation on disabled children begins
A three-day regional consultation of South and Central Asia began in the city yesterday with a view to formulate policy to preserve the rights of physically challenged children in the light of the UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities, says a press release.Save the Children Sweden-Denmark, Action Aid Bangladesh and National Forum of Organisations Working with the Disabled (NFOWD) jointly organised the programme attended by representatives from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The consultation aims at determining the role of the government in implementing the UN convention regarding preserving the rights of disabled children. The meet will also try to develop a children and disability advocacy 'implementation handbook'.
