Recalling the memories of the Battle of Plassey, Foreign Affairs Adviser Iftekhar A Chowdhury called on the people to ensure that 'foreign hands' could never determine the future of Bangladesh."We have regained the sovereignty that we lost at Plassey and we must protect it forever," he said in a message on the occasion of its 250th anniversary yesterday, according to a foreign ministry press release. "We must use our freedom to improve the quality of our lives and the lot of common people," he said, adding that "Today we recall Plassey, not because we want to look to the past, but because we want to look forward to the future."
