The AB Bank Metropolis Women's Table Tennis League will commence today at the Woodenfloor Gymnasium. Nine teams will take part in the league. They are defending champions Abahani, Biman, Lalbagh TTA, Youngs Club, Moler TTC, Armenian Girls and Bangla-desh Chemical and Perfumery Society.

Meanwhile, the men's senior division super league will start from Tuesday.

TT CAMP
A youth table tennis coaching camp began yesterday at the Woodenfloor Gymnasium under the auspices of the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation. A total of 16 paddlers (16-20 years) will take part in the three-week camp to be conducted by local coaches Hafizur Rahman and Ripon Khan. Secretary for Youth and Sports Dr Golam Mostafa Talukder declared the camp open.

DIVISIONAL KARATE
Sunamganj and Moulavibazar won two gold medals each in the Sylhet leg of the Samsung 2nd Divisional Karate competition in Sylhet. Faizul Islam and Hossain Ahmed won in the men's singles and the men's under-55kg events while Rezaul Karim and Rezaul Ahmed grabbed gold medals in under-45kg and under-50kg.

In the other two categories -- under-60kg and under-70kg -- Biplob Ahmed of hosts Sylhet and Nazmul Hossain of Habiganj won respectively.

NATIONAL VOLLEYBALL
UNB adds: Bangladesh Navy and Police reached the semifinals of the 23rd National Volleyball Championship winning their respective matches at the Mirpur Indoor Stadium. Navy crushed Khulna in straight sets 25-4, 25-9, 25-8 while Police defeated Kushtia, also in straight sets 25-15, 25-8, 25-21.

In the two semifinals, Police will take on Rifles while Navy face Army today.
