Summer Solstice Day today
Anusandhitsu Chakra, a science organisation, is going to observe The Summer Solstice Day for the first time in the country today, says a press release.

Summer Solstice Day is the longest day in northern hemisphere when the sun remains on the summer solstice line perpendicularly/vertically for a certain time and the summer solstice line passes on the middle of Bangladesh.

The organisation has calked out elaborate programmes to observe the day at Bishwa Sahitya Kendra at Bangla Motor in the city.

The programmes include observing sun spot and night sky by telescope (if the sky remains clear), a discussion on the summer solstice day, difference between science and astrology, environment, wall paper about sun, its history, its moving way, rare stamp collection on astronomy and astronomers etc. The exhibition will begin at 3:00pm that will end at 8:00pm while the discussion will be held at 6:00pm.

Astronomer Dr AR Khan, Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, Dr Dipen Bhattacharya, Shahjahan Mridha Benu, Ronald Halder and young astronomer Naimul Islam Apu will speak at the discussion.
