They are Ashraful Alam, 48, Tajuddin, 26, Belal Hossain,35, Abdus Sobhan,50, Shafiqul Alam,41, and Joynal Abedin, 35.

Of them, Belal Hosen, Shafiqul Alam and Joynal Abedin are sons of late Abdul Bari of Changmari.

The JMB cadres along with the Sadar Union Parishad Chairman Anwarul Islam went to the Gangachara Police Station at about 10:00am where police arrested them under Section 54. Later, police sent them to Rangpur Central Jail.

Officer-in-Charge Alam Bazlur Rashid said the arrested had been absconding since August 17, 2005 following simultaneous bomb blasts in Rangpur and 62 other districts in the country.

Seven other JMB cadres of Gangachara upazila surrendered to police on June 14. Quoting Belal Hossain, police said having been influenced by Shafiqul Alam, headmaster of Kuttibari non-government primary school, a number of people of Changmari joined the JMB.

Hasif Aziz, Superintendent of Police of Rangpur, said, "As a part of community policing, they have engaged imams of local mosques, UP chairmen and elites to motivate the JMB cadres so that they (JMB cadres) can return from the wrong path."
