Elderly engr of Korean ship drowns in Karnaphuli


An elderly engineer of a Korean flag carrier ship fall into the river Karnaphuli and drowned early yesterday.

The victim was identified as Rimong Ryong, 60, an engineer of a Korean flag carrier MV Birobong that anchored at Jetty No-5 of Chittagong port.

Sources said Rimong was walking on the second floor of the ship at around 6.00am when he fell into the river Karnaphuli.

Later, crews of the vessel recovered his body, said Sub-inspector (SI) Mainul of Bandar Police Station.

An unnatural death case was filed with the Bandar Police Station in this connection.
