Dilruba to take office as Zonta Int'l director on June 22
Dilruba Ahmed will take office as director of Zonta International on June 22, says a press release.She will serve as the director from June 22, 2007 to June 30, 2009. She is the first Bangladeshi and third Asian to be elected to serve as director of Zonta International that represents 69 regions and countries of the world. Founded in 1919 in Buffalo, USA, Zonta International is a global organisation of women professionals working to advance the status of women through service and advocacy. Apart from her role as board director, she will serve as Zonta International president's representative and board liaison for 128 clubs in Finland, Estonia and the USA. She recently served as governor of Zonta District 25 comprising of Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. She is a member of Zonta Club Chittagong and was its charter president in 1991. Zonta International Headquarters is in Chicago, USA.
