Govt to import rice, wheat to increase stock

Adviser for Food and Disaster Management Tapan Chowdhury said yesterday the country has now adequate stock of foodgrains.To increase the stock, the government will import 2.5 lakh tons of rice and 1.38 lakh tons of wheat, he said after a meeting of food monitoring committee at the finance ministry here. Finance Adviser AB Mirza Azizul Islam, Local Government Adviser Mohammad Anwarul Iqbal and Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumder also attended the meeting.
