25pc work of Karnaphuli Bridge completed

Twenty-five percent work of the under construction Third Karnaphuli Bridge here has so far been completed.The construction of the Tk 590-crore bridge is expected to be completed within June, 2009, three months ahead of the schedule. Project Director of the bridge Engineer Abdul Muktadir told this yesterday to Communications Adviser Major General (retd) MA Matin who was visiting the construction site. The project director informed that the bridge is being constructed on the basis of extra dosed method which would not create any hindrance to navigability and course of the river. Expressing satisfaction over the pace of construction, the adviser urged all concerned to complete the task within the stipulated timeframe by maintaining the desired standard. Shipping Secretary Sheikh Enayet Ullah was present during the visit.
