Another feather in Rajib's cap


Enamul Hossain Rajib had the last laugh when the International Master lifted the title of the Destiny International Rating chess tournament on the final day at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room.

In yesterday's ninth and final round of the premier group competition, an unbeaten Rajib defeated Debaraj Chatterjee to take his tally to seven points.

Rajib's previous round co-leader Sheikh Nasir gave up when he crashed to Abu Sufian Shakil and finish fourth with six points. Shakil also had six points but settled for fifth place.

IM Abdullah Al Rakib got the runner-up trophy despite ending level with Grand Master Ziaur Rahman on 6.5 points.

In the primary group, Kazi Taherul Islam emerged unbeaten champion with eight points while Anisuzzaman Jewel runner-up with 7.5 points.
