Dealing with graft


In the United States the courts have handed down long jail sentences for corporate graft. Some of the convicted senior executives of big companies will spend the rest of their lives behind bars.

If the authorities in Bangladesh are serious about rooting out corruption, then they must enact laws that will ensure that the punishment for corruption will act as a real deterrent and not as a mere slap on the wrist.
