Charge framing deferred again


Public safety tribunal and special sessions judge court of Rajshahi district yesterday deferred again the charge framing in the Prof S Taher Ahmed murder case until June 13.

Meanwhile, the key suspect and Rajshahi University (RU) Shibir President Mahbubul Alam Salehi submitted a prayer to the court seeking acquitter from the murder charge.

Framing of charges in the case was scheduled to be held yesterday. But the date was shifted following a time petition of Saiful Islam Shelly, lawyer of another suspect Dr Mia Mohammad Mohiuddin.

Earlier on June 11, the court deferred framing of charges despite schedule.

The court will hear on Salehi's prayer on the next charge framing date.

Prof Taher, a teacher of RU geology and mining department was killed on February 1, 2006 and his body was recovered from a sewer behind him residence on RU campus.
